  1. Case Study: Avlite Systems Lights Up Winnipeg Airport Authority with Solar Airfield Lights, Canada June 2007

  2. The Winnipeg Airport Authority recently installed a series of AV70 solar-powered taxiway and barricade lights after successful field trials and purchases during 2006.

  3. The AV70 Solar-Powered taxiway edge light has been independently tested to meet the requirements of ICAO Annex 14 Volume 1, ‘Aerodrome Design and Operations’, Forth edition July 2004, paragraph 5.3.17.7.

  4. The Airport Authority designed & fabricated frangible mounting stands – enabling a completely portable system of taxiway lights for use during airport construction

  5. The completely portable units are ideal for expedient barricades, and require NO WIRING between lights or to mains power.

  6. As part of the airport site redevelopment program, Avlite solar-powered barricade lights are placed around work areas. Winnipeg Airport Authority have committed $585 million to redevelop terminal, roadway and airside infrastructure & services throughout 2003-09

  7. The integrated solar panels charge the internal battery during daylight hours, and at dusk the lights automatically turn ON The AV70 uses Light Emitted Diodes as a light-source, meaning there are NO globes to change. EVER.

  8. The dual solar-array integrated into the AV70 allows the model to outperform rivals in low sunlight regions – and the angle of the panels provide for optimum solar charging across a wide range of conditions, plus reduce the likelihood of snow and dust buildup.

  9. At dusk, the AV70 automatically turns itself ON. The light will run for around 4 YEARS without EVER changing the battery.

  10. Once installed, the lights will operate maintenance-free & ‘OFF THE GRID’ for years – saving Winnipeg Airport Authority thousands of dollars in electricity & maintenance costs.

  11. The AV70 is the perfect solution for portable barricade lighting

  12. Winnipeg Airport Authority now has almost 100 Avlite solar-powered lights in service. The low maintenance requirements and long service life of Avlite’s robust, IP68 waterproof rated products make them a clear winner.

  13. We would like to thank the team from Winnipeg Airport Authority for providing photographs for this presentation, and for trusting Avlite Systems with their portable lighting requirements.
