  6. "I have come to a frightening conclusion. I am the decisive element in the classroom. It is my personal approach that creates the climate. It is my daily mood that makes the weather. As a teacher, I possess tremendous power to make a child's life miserable or joyous. I can be a tool of torture or an instrument of inspiration. I can humiliate or humor, hurt or heal. In all situations it is my response that decides whether a crisis will be escalated or de-escalated, and a child humanized or dehumanized.“ From Teacher and Child By Dr. Haim G. Ginott

  7. Power of curriculum “ I believe that fully 90% of our issues, teaching, learning or discipline, can be traced by to either poor curriculum or inadequately delivered curriculum” -Gerald Hasselman

  10. Well defined curriculum • Common Core • Consider state and local curriculum • Consider vertical and horizontal curriculum • Make sure the students understand the curriculum • Use the unit system

  11. Strong Curriculum • Do you select material that matches the curriculum? • Is your material the correct degree of difficulty for all students? • Does a student have to stretch to achieve at a high level?
