Why are we here l.jpg
Why are we here?

  • What this meeting will do (hopefully) is not to debate the merits or demerits of BPL but rather to see what standards need to be in place to enable BPL technology, protect the public, the workers engaged in BPL, and the systems on which it is to run.

  • Determine how the IEEE can aid the development of any standards required to ensure workability, compatibility or interchangeability.

Meeting objectives l.jpg
Meeting Objectives

  • Understand what application spaces are envisioned (home, neighborhood wires, long-distance transmission lines)

  • Review standards that exist already or underway

  • Identify those additional standards that are needed

  • Determine the specific problems need to be solved

  • Identify all regulatory issues, particularly those relating to interference to licensed and unlicensed services that BPL implementations might desire

  • Identify which companies are interested in driving successful technology

  • Determine where potential new standards projects should be organized within the IEEE
