  11. Myth Kronos was a very jealous god. He overthrew his father because he wanted his power. When he learned that his own son was destined to overthrow him, Kronos began swallowing his children as soon as they were born: first Hestia, then Demeter, Hera, Hades and Poseidon. When Zeus was born, Rhea tricked Kronos into swallowing a stone instead, and she hid Zeus from Kronos. When he grew up, Zeus poisoned Kronos, forcing him to disgorge his brothers and sisters who then joined together to overthrow Kronos and imprison him in the pit of Tartarus.
