Background • Unmanned systems have rapidly transformed operations in operation in Iraq and Afghanistan • Predator unmanned aerial system • Talon and PackBot Counter-IED unmanned systems • User confidence in unmanned systems has led to the generation of new requirements • Systems provide critical capabilities in hazardous operations • Currently an adjunct capability not fully integrated into the force structure • Unmanned systems development efforts now span academia, industry, an government • Structured, integrated approach is necessary to fully realize the potential of unmanned systems • Opportune time to establish the infrastructure for unmanned systems development efforts SSC San Diego…on Point and at the Center of C4ISR
