Grade 5 Elementary-Level Social Studies Test BOOKLET 1 • 35 multiple-choice items (50%) • 3-4 constructed-response items (20%) BOOKLET 2 • 1 document-based question (DBQ) essay • Scaffolded items (10%) • 1 essay (20%) Notes: • 4 point rubric for the DBQ essay • No choice, students must answer all items

Approximate Weighting of the Global History & Geography and United States History & Government Regents • 50 multiple-choice items (55%) • 1 thematic essay (15%) • 1 document-based question (DBQ) essay with scaffolded questions (15%) and essay (15%) Notes: • 5 point thematic rubric and 5 point DBQ rubric • No choice, students must answer all items • The number of scaffolded questions vary from test to test

Global History & Geography United States History & Government Regents Competency Tests • 50 multiple-choice items • 2 essays out of 4 • Each essay has a Part A which consists of open-ended items and a Part B which is the essay Notes: • 6 point rating criteria • Essays are worth a total of 10 credits • Students have choice on the essays (2 out of 4)
