    3. 11 June 2012 Previous situation No regular reporting mechanism. No regular quality assurance process. No regular identification of missing data on the Swift database. Error reports were run only once per year at statutory return submission. Submissions to the Scottish Government were done by various admin staff. Problems with the data that were left unresolved would reappear in the future.

    4. 11 June 2012 In order to get to the standard we wish to achieve with our data, that is; To use it for performance monitoring and management, Self-evaluation, Management decision making, And confident submission to the Scottish Government, We placed our bid for funding with the Scottish Government to become early adopters.

    5. 11 June 2012 Objectives Our main objectives and the areas in which we hoped to improve were as follows; Employ temporary staff to improve the quality of data on looked after children. Establish a robust monitoring and reporting mechanism Start a regular quality assurance process Upload clean data to ScotXed and submit by the deadline Get to the root of problems and implement quality assurance and reporting mechanisms that last beyond the life of this project
