  11. SPEAR Dipole Currentand Voltage Interlock • Trip if SPEAR dipole current is > 0.5% from the nominal dipole current • Trip if the SPEAR dipole power supply voltage is 1% below the nominal voltage • Redundant current monitors • Interlock also senses a single coil dipole short - a shorted dipole will produce a voltage drop of ~ 1.35% (total of 36 dipoles on the string) • Error budget < 0.1% • Remote trip test • In Top-Off mode the Dipole Interlock enables the BTS stoppers and the Linac chopper • Response time to terminate injection < 10 ms for current interlock • Response time to terminate injection < 5 s for voltage interlock SSRL Top-Off BCS Review February 15, 2008

  12. QF1 Magnet Currentand Voltage Interlock • Trip if the QF1 current is 25% below the nominal quadrupole current • Trip if the QF1 power supply voltage is 20% below the nominal voltage • Redundant current monitors • Interlock also senses a short pole - a shorted pole will produce a voltage drop of ~ 20% (because of cable resistance) • Error budget < 2.5% • Remote trip test • In Top-Off mode the QF1 magnet interlocks enables the BTS stoppers and the Linac chopper • Response time to terminate injection < 10 ms for current interlock • Response time to terminate injection < 1 s for voltage interlock SSRL Top-Off BCS Review February 15, 2008
