  1. Harshini MudaliarTips for Cooking Elk Meat: 2 Popular Cooking Methods Harshini Mudaliar Elk is a huge gregarious deer which is usually found in North America. Some people call them red deer. Their meat is also known as a type of venison. This type of meat has a one-of-a-kind taste and texture. In fact, Elk meat is fine-textured and tender. It is also very low in fat. As it is low in fat, it is very important not to overcook it, or it will become dry and tough. The best way to cook elk is through slow and moist cooking methods.

  2. Here are a few quick tips: When grilling or frying elk meat, do it quickly or it will become dry. It also helps to marinate the meat to keep it moist and improve its flavor. Cook this animal protein to less than medium done. If you want more doneness, you should cover the meat and let it "rest" for at least 10-20 minutes. Covering the meat while it is hot will continue the cooking process without drying out the meat. Cook in slow and moist recipes. You can also add broth, water, wine, or gravy. Popular Cooking Methods Roast Elk: You can cook this type of venison in a roaster, adding the desired spices and moisture. You will need about 2 cups of the liquid of your choice- water or broth. You can also add thin strips of moist animal protein, such as bacon, beef, or pork fat into the roast. Another option is to wrap this venison with bacon strips. Add garlic cloves to enhance its flavor. Cook at 300 degrees until the venison's temperature reaches 140 degrees for rare and 160 degrees for medium done. Remove the elk roast from the oven as soon as it is done cooking. Remember that this type of animal protein cooks quicker than beef.

  3. You can also cook this venison in a crock pot for 4-6 hours on high or 10-12 hours on low. Make sure that you add enough liquid of your choice to keep it moist. Elk Meat Burger: For this recipe, you will need ground elk meat. This recipe tastes superb and it is very easy to cook. It is also great for outdoor burger party with family and friends. For a quick and delicious elk meat burger, you will need a pan-fry or grill. Cook the ground meat over medium heat for about 4 minutes on each side. If you need extra moisture, you can add one egg, a teaspoon of olive oil, or a piece of bacon wrapped around every patty to know more about cooking tips to click here Harshini Mudaliar
