Research Projects 2004/05 • Separation of cyclist and Pedestrians from motor traffic- Report awaited • User tolerances to vibrations on footbridges- Work completed –Report awaited • Scoping study Timber Bridges –Work completed- Report awaited • Waterproofing of decks- Stiffness of membrane/ thin surfacing –Completion 03/06 • Waterproofing of decks – Early application – Completion 03/06 • ATM gantries – High -sided vehicle buffeting effects – Completion 09/05 • Durability of hinge-decks – Draft of BA to be circulated shortly

Research Projects 2004/05 • Fire protection of tunnel assets- Second draft being considered • Implications of EU Directive on tunnels- Report is finalised • Fire detection and suppression in road tunnels- Draft final report received • Innovations in Road Tunnels- Report finalised – Review recommendations. • Performance Indicators for highway structures – Trial Documents available • Trial use of recycled aggregates in structural concrete- Seminar held- Draft BA in progress

Research Projects 2004/05 • Crevice corrosion investigation in post-tensioned structures- Research findings being considered by HA • Footbridge dynamic response properties – Final report in Autumn ’05 • WIM systems and braking forces for abnormal loads- Work completed • The effectiveness of sub-standard shear reinforcement in bridge decks – Phase 1 • Tests on RC beams strengthened for shear using FRP laminates – Third Report • Behaviour of RC beams strengthened for flexure - FRP laminates – 4th Report • Performance assessment of FRP bridge decks: Testing of deck sections under static and dynamic loading – Phase 3 Report
