  1. FRESH FRUIT BUNCH (FFB) HYPERSPECTRAL SCANNER • WHY DO WE NEED THIS INVENTION? (think of potential customer/user) • • To prevent the unnecessary harvesting of under-ripe fresh fruit bunches and aid the harvesting of ripe bunches. • • The need in the market is for a fast, easy and accurate classification of oil palm fruit bunch ripeness system, especially for the farmers to have an objective classifier before harvesting the fruits. This will overcome current disputes at the oil mills about the FFB grading. Who are the potential consumer? • Oil palm mils in Malaysia. • Malaysia Palm Oil Board (MPOB). • Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute(MARDI). • Higher Learning Institutions. • Department of Agriculture (DOA). • Malaysia Remote Sensing Agency (MRSA). • Integrated Agriculture Development Area (IADA). Benefits compared to competitors? (with evidence) • Provide real time grading for large amount of fruits for high quality products. • This invention can provide simple, reliable, rapid and accurate oil palm fresh fruit maturity classification • It can be used for further similar application with different agriculture fruits. What is the invention and how it fulfills the said need? (with evidence) • It is relates to a hyperspectral sensor for fruit maturity detection and classification, and more particularly to a sensor for oil palm fruit bunch detection and classification utilizing NIR spectral bands, with specific illumination system. • It is relates to the hyperspectral for accurately detecting and classifying fruit maturity to determine the optimum harvest time of the fresh oil palm fruit bunch. • The accuracy was 99.66%. From the experiment, a multi-bands sensor was designed for purpose of predicting fruit maturity under field conditions. Cost compared to benefit? • In sed magna nisi, et facilisisipsum. • Aliquamrhoncusnisl et magna sollicitudin sit ametmolestie lacus pretium. Project Leader : Assoc.
