  3. Collective Reflections • Start off in groups of two • Similar ‘things’ / different ‘things’ • Then let’s share our collective insights • Change ‘Secrets’ Remember – we will be presenting our change later (10 minutes) so don’t go into too much actual detail in this discussion.

Getting Off to the Great Start As the song goes: “How did I get here …Same As It Every Was?” (Talking Heads “Once In a Lifetime”) No its not: you have a large say in your journey – it will not be same as it ever was unless you are not looking for a change! How will I get there? Build a personal plan.

What is your personal vision? • What’s it all about Alfie? • Develop personal goal statements • Why: Finding your vision and having goals can help you stay focused on what is important to you • And, remember Ken Wong’s Grandfather’s advice – ‘don’t let the bastards get you down.’

  10. Connect to Others • Form a powerful coalition of support • Family, Friends, Work, Peers • Your network is bigger than you think. Your network is more influential than you think (Is the 6 degrees of separation shrinking?) • How well do you use your network? (When was the last time you helped someone in your network?)

Questions in the Employees’ Mind • What is this person like? • Do I trust this person? • What is their management style? • What will he/she do if I make a mistake? • Will she/he ask my opinion? • Will they want to change things (my job or the way we do things around here)? • How will this affect me (change in job duties, different hours, etc.?

  14. Reflection Questions What hot spots are you focusing on? What’s your first small win? What critical forces that are causing you to change? How will you dissatisfy people from the current state? Trust? What driving forces do you need to Enhance? Restrain? What is your sense of urgency? Who is in your Powerful Coalition? What is your vision – few words? What’s your key value(s)? How are you communicating with your people? What’s the feeling? How are you shaping the path?
