5. 5 What is the IIBA The International Institute of Business Analysis is an international non-profit association for business analysis professionals. Its international administrative office is located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Talk about PMI – Until now the BA profession did not have an organization to represent it. The Definition Works as a liaison among stakeholders to elicit, analyze, communicate and validate requirements for changes to business processes, policies, and information and information systems Understands business problems and opportunities in the context of the requirements and recommends solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals Further defining the BA role. 9. 9 A Brief History of the IIBA Inaugural meeting held October 2003 with 23 founding members from two countries March 2004, First Annual General Meeting July 2006, release version 1.6 of the BOK Nov. 10 2006 – First Certification Exam SA Chapter launched October 2007 3Q 2008 BABOK v2.0 First Bullet - In 2003 a group of individuals from Toronto came together with a common vision of creating an industry organization for BAs. They discussed the potential and need for an org of this type. Second bullet - This led to another mtg in April 2004 in which officers were elected and a constitution and bylaws were established. These meetings are held in a dial-in bridge conference format. Third bullet – At the second AGM, the BOK committee released the first version of the BA BOK. Last bullet - The BOK now includes - Most KAs complete or nearly so - First practitioner review of BoK Completed - Board of Experts recruitment underway - Presentation talks more about the BOK later. IIBA web site has an area for members to review endorsed education providers Since the IIBA is NOT a training provider, it has developed a strategy for endorsing education and training providers who’s teaching aligns with the BOK. There are currently 20 Education Providers.
