  5. Wednesday and Thursday Open your Electronic Word Wall and add the following terms. Hardware: Physical elements that make up a computer or electronic system and everything else involved, including the monitor, hard drive, memory, and CPU. Software: a set of instructions or programs instructing a computer to do specific tasks

  10. Friday and Monday Open your Electronic Word Wall and add the following terms. Firmware: a software program permanently etched into a hardware device such as keyboards, hard drive, BIOS, or video cards. It is programmed to give permanent instructions to communicate with other devices. Read Only Memory (ROM): a type of storage medium that permanently stores data on personal computers and other devices. It contains the programming needed to start a PC.

Tuesday and Wednesday Bell Ringer Add the following terms to your Electronic Word Wall (EWW) • Numeric Keypad – keys at the right side of the keyboard used to enter numeric copy and perform calculations • Home-key position on a keypad – curve the fingers of the right hand and place them on the keypad with the index finger on 4, the middle finger on 5, the ring finger on 6, the thumb on 0, and the pinky finger on Enter • Number Lock – also known as Num Lock, activates/deactivates numeric keypad

  17. Thursday and Friday Bell Ringer Add the following terms to your EWW. • GWAM: Gross Words a Minute is the overall typing speed regardless of how many errors you make.  • NWAM: Net Words a Minute take your GWAM result and subtract the amount of errors Submit your EWW to Edmodo for a grade.

  18. Objective Use the correct touch-system techniques for operating the ten- key numeric pad Correct touch-systems technique will help improve speed and accuracy in calculating figures.
