Highlight of Current Activities • Since GSC-15 • Established 471 standards • Sep. 2010 ~ Sep. 2011 • Established 3 New Project Groups & 1 New PCG • PG: Magnetic Field Communication, Cyber Physical Systems, Wireless Mobile Charging & Application • Wireless Power Transmission PCG (Project Coordination Group) • Total of 64 PGs (see Supplementary slide 2 for details) as of Sep. 2011 • Accredited 38 Domestic Standardization Fora

  3. Highlight of Current Activities • Cloud Computing • Domestic Standardization based on IaaS (Infrastructure as a Services) priority needs (2010~2012) • SLA Quality parameter of Public Cloud Services in e-Government of Korea • Standardization on Metering/Billing system

Highlight of Current Activities • Korean Public Alert System (KPAS) • Public alert message over cellular is being provided only in 2G • No alert services in 3G networks such as WCDMA and HSPA • Provision of 800MHz band LTE commercial service by two operators (SKT and LG U+) in Jul. 2011 • Developed standard based on CMAS and will be enforced by NEMA (National Emergency Management Agency) by 2012

Highlight of Current Activities • M2M • Recognized M2M as one of 10 future ICT services by the Korean government (May 2010) • Korea Telco’s(SKT, KT, LGU+) current market size is 1.75 mil. subscribers and potential demand for M2M by 2015 is estimated at 14.5 mil. subscribers • Major business model is Customized service, Smart & Safety, Intelligent vehicle, Public SOC(Social Overhead Capital) • Established TTA M2M PG(Dec. 2010) to standardize open M2M platform interface based on commercial mobile communication network

Highlight of Current Activities • Wireless Charging • Established TTA Wireless Charging and Application PG • Work scope : Standard roadmap, Power transfer interface, Control mechanism • Currently discussing Interface protocol and Evaluation Methodology of Wireless Power Transfer Wireless Wired Peer-to-Peer • Lack of mobility • Rechargeable toothbrush, mobile phone, etc Wired Charging • Limited convenience • 1:1 Charging Remote Charging • Better convenience and mobility • Nonrecognition charging No communication network Require communication network

  10. Challenges • Global partnership collaboration among SDOs in the areas of • Cloud Computing : Definition, Terminology, Reference Architecture • Wireless Charging : Common/Global frequency standardization

Challenges • Inter-sectoral collaboration between ICT industry and other vertical industries • M2M collaboration among Smart Grid, ITS, u-Health and Home-automation industry. • Wireless Charging collaboration among auto manufacturers • Testing of Wireless Charging Bus at Seoul Grand Amusement Park

  12. Next Steps / Actions • Develop “Requirements of Cloud computing services” and “Reference model for Privacy of Cloud computing services” by Dec. 2011 • M2M Global initiative activities in the M2M area • Further development of Wireless Mobile Charging roadmap and standards
