New technical activities (1) • TC ITS (Intelligent Transport Systems) • created October 2007 • Søren Hess (Daimler AG) appointed as Chairman • two meetings held already (December 2007 & April 2008) • meeting #3 planned for October 2008 • TC RRS (Reconfigurable Radio Systems) • created January 2008 • Peter Olanders (Telefon AB LM Ericsson) appointed as Chairman. • two meetings held already (March 2008 & June 2008) • meeting #3 planned for September 2008

New technical activities (2) • TC INT (IMS Network Testing) • created March 2008 • Giulio Maggiore (Telecom Italia) appointed as Chairman • 1st meetings held already (May 2008) • meeting #2 planned for September 2008 • Starter Group on “Digital Content Distribution” (D-COD • created June 2008 • Truls-Erik Langeggen (Telenor) appointed as convenor. • 1st meeting planned for July 2008 to review: • interworking on heterogeneous systems (IPTV, MobileTV, between IPTVs, between MobileTVs), starting with specific use cases, • content distribution standards in support of : operator content distribution, internet tv content distribution, internet p2p distribution, with the idea to make better use of the booming operators peering traffic.

IPR issues • IPR Special Committee (under ETSI GA) • Committee activated December 2007 • Chaired by Karsten Meinhold (Nokia Siemens Networks) • 4 meetings held already • Main issues: • Disclosure and IPR undertaking/licensing declarations with regard to Patent Families, • Scrutiny of Competition/antitrust law issues in standardization process , • Irrevocability of IPR undertaking/licensing declarations, • Continuity of IPR undertaking/licensing declaration when Ownership of a Patent that is subject to such undertaking/licensing is transferred, • Revision of IPR Licensing Declaration forms, • Improvements to the ETSI IPR Database. • Meeting #5 planned for September 2008
