The llab is born… • 2010-2011: Idea & fee proposed • Summer 2011: Detailed LLAB Proposal • July 2011: Interest email & app sent out • August 22: Applications Due • September 1: Board members selected • September 9: Board member 1:1s • September 16: First Board meeting • October 2: First Board program

  6. What is the board? • Board members: • President • Administrative Chair • Spirit & Events Chair • Public Relations Chair • 2 Advisors • Board Responsibilities: • Programming • Advocacy • Newsletters • Marketing • OTMs

  7. How did we get started? • Online application process • Interest email • 12 applications received for 4 positions • Selection of board members • Information & brainstorming meeting • 1:1s with each board member • Position overview, flexibility, & training • First meeting & first program

  8. First program: s’mores • Goal: End of September • Actual: October 2 • Attendees: ~60

  9. Second program: masquerade • Less successful… about 20-25 participants • More work—for the board and attendees • More secluded area of campus

  10. On the horizon… • T-shirt Design Contest • Marketing focus • Service Project • Ice Skating • Cram Cart • LLC Partner Fair • 2012-2013 Recruitment

  11. What are we doing well? • Focus on board member roles • Brainstorming new ideas • Marketing—in some ways • Program planning

  12. What do we need to focus on? • Spending money • Branding the board • Effective meetings • Recognition & OTM writing

  13. Goals for the future • Program Ideas: • LLC Retreat/camping trip • Etiquette dinner • Fine arts performances • Newsletters • Community meetings & board meetings • Revisit meeting schedule? • Earlier recruitment & selection timeline • More extensive training
