History of the CHA TWG HRH Established in 2006 – Nairobi Declaration • Identified focal CHAs in each region*: • East Africa: KEC, CSSC • Southern Africa: CHAM, CHAZ • Central & West Africa: ECC, CHAG, CHAN • Terms of Reference for focal CHAs • Terms of Reference for TWG HRH *2008 focal CHAs expanded to include: CHALe, CHAS, CHAK, UPMB, UCMB *2009 all CHAs to participate

  4. 2006 Terms of Reference TWG HRH Purpose: The African Christian Health Associations’ Technical Working Group on Human Resources for Health intends to assist CHAs to plan, develop, and support their human resources for health, in order to advance the healing ministry of Christ.

  5. 2006 Terms of Reference TWG HRH Con’t Principle Objectives: • To strengthen Partnerships and Relationships of the CHAs with government and other partners • Toincrease Retention of health personnel for facilities within the CHA networks • To advance Human Resource Management Systems of CHA secretariats and their institutions • To improve Human Resource Financing and Training opportunities and practices.

  6. 2006 Terms of Reference TWG HRH Con’t Cross-Cutting Objectives: • Advisory: Function as an expert group on how CHA networks are confronting HRH issues in order to advise individual CHAs as they face challenges • Advocacy: Advocate nationally and internationally for policies and resources to support the CHA networks ability to improve health services • Knowledge Sharing: Serve as a clearing house for information about HRH practices of CHAs

History of the CHA TWG HRH 2007 - Bagamoyo Meeting (Bagamoyo, Tanzania) • “Committed to follow-up on the HRH recommendations and the TWG will continue to support this process” • “The agreed resolutions in the area of Human Resource Management, finance and sustainability and management and governance will be followed-up by the CHAs for implmentation”

  8. History of the CHA TWG HRH 2009 – Kampala Meeting (Kampala, Uganda) • TWG HRH would be absorbed into the larger ACHA Platform • Hotline HRH would be incorporated into quarterly ACHA Platform Bulletin • ACHA Platform would take responsibility for HRH document collecting

Achievements Exchange Visits focusing on: • Management/Administration • Information Technology • Supply Chain Management Hotline HRH • August 2006 – March 2009 • ~200 on distribution list • CHAs, other FBOs, Government & NGO partners HRH Website Portal • Btwn 200-300 documents • MOUs, Newsletters, Service Agreements
