Understanding the Passover • Brought about because of existing problem. • Israel enslaved in Egypt- Exodus 1:7-13 • Previous 9 plagues have not secured release. • Egyptian bondage will end with 10th plague. • A Remedy Offered. • God was not going to punish Israel with Egypt. • God offered a means of escape- Exodus 12:21-23

Understanding the Passover • The Blood Supplied. • God demands the blood; animal must be killed. • God provided for the animal- Exodus 9:6,7 6 So the LORD did this thing on the next day, and all the livestock of Egypt died; but of the livestock of the children of Israel, not one died. 7 Then Pharaoh sent, and indeed, not even one of the livestock of the Israelites was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh became hard, and he did not let the people go. Exodus 9:6-7

Understanding the Passover • The Blood Applied. • Who was affected by the blood? • Those within the house. • How was the blood applied? • With hyssop, to the doorposts and the lintel. • What was to be done alongside? • Roast the animal; eat, along with other food, prepared to go. • When was the blood to be applied? • Before the Lord passed through (Exodus 12:6-12).

Our Salvation and the Passover • The Blood Applied. • How do we apply the blood? • Hebrews 9:22 tells us remission of sin is in the blood. • Revelation 1:5 tells us remission of sin is through washing in Jesus’ blood. • Acts 22:16 tells us that we wash away our sins in the waters of baptism, which represent the blood of Christ. • When is the blood to be applied? • When I realize I’m a sinner- Romans 6:23 • Before I die- Luke 16:26
