TheMonterey Historyand ArtAssociation,MuseumofMonterey-StantonCenterand WhalefestMontereyhaveissued aCallforSubmissionsofmarine-themedphotographsby localphotographersfrom bothMontereyand SantaCruzcountiesfor itsupcoming “ImagesofMonterey Bay:AMarinePhotographyFundraiser.” Up tothirtyphotoswill beselected and exhibitedattheMuseumofMonterey,5 Custom HousePlaza,Monterey, CA,beginning Saturday,November15,2014throughSundayJanuary25,2015 atWhalefest Monterey2015onMonterey’sOldFisherman’sWharf(January24-25,2015).Thephotoswill besubsequentlydonated toa drawing thatbenefitsboththeMuseumand WhalefestMonterey.Formoreinformation,gototheeventspageatwww.montereywharf.comorwww.museumofmonterey.orgorcall PeteRerig at(831)372-2608. Aboutthe“Imagesofthe MontereyBay”Submission Process: Thesubject matterof thephotosshould bemarinelifeand activitiesphotographed locally. Theprintscanbeanysizeup to16x20inches,blackand whiteorcolor,and should bemounted onaboardso theycanbedisplayedonaneasel.Onthebackof theboardshould bethephotographer’snameand a brief descriptionofthesubjectmatter,whereand when taken,andany technicaldetailsof theshot. Initial submissionsofup tothreephotosshould bemadeindigitalform toPeteRerig at pete.rerig@montereyhistory.org.ThedeadlineforsubmissionsisOctober15,2014.Accepted

  2. mounted printsneed tobedelivered totheMuseumofMonterey byNovember7,2014.Thequalityoftheprintsneeds tomatchthatof theelectronicentry,especiallywithregardstoresolution.WhalefestMonterey2015reservestheright torejecttheprintsifthey don’t meetqualitystandards. Up to30photostotal will beselected bytheMuseumofMonterey’scurators. Theywill bedisplayed oneaselsthroughouttheMuseumbeginning Saturday, November15,2014until thelastdayofWhalefestonSunday,January25,2015.ManyofWhalefest’s lectures,presentationsanddocumentaryscreeningswilltakeplaceattheMuseumonJanuary24and 25.Intellectualpropertyrightsremain withthephotographer. Whilethephotosareonexhibit,patronswhovisit theMuseumofMontereymaypurchaseticketsfora drawing to winoneormorephotosof theirchoiceby placing ticketsinto individualreceptaclesforeachphoto.Adrawing fromeachreceptacle willbeheld todeterminethe winnerofthatparticularphotoonJanuary25,2015.Winners donotneed bepresentto win.Winnersmaypickup theprintsattheMuseum,orhavethemsent tothem,and thenshippingandhandlingchargeswillapply.
