SEP @ MEZ(Summer Enrichment Program at the Michigan Engineering Zone) • 2 week summer academic program • Piloted in 2011 at MEZ • Takes place this year on June 18-29, Mon – Fri • Drop off students at 8:30-8:45 am • Classes begin promptly at 9:00 am • We provide snacks, lunch, and a light breakfast • Classes end at approximately 4:30 pm • Pick up students at 4:45-5:00 pm

  3. Logistics Drop off at 8:30-8:45 am Pick up at 4:45-5:00 pm Please enter Parsons St in the direction heading from Cass Ave toward Woodward Ave (direction of the small arrow). The large arrow designates the drop off/pick up point. On the 1st day, please escort the student into the classroom to sign in. Please let us know if we need to be aware of any custody issues, else we will release students to the person picking them up.

  4. Curriculum Week 1Science of Photosynthesis • Monday: Biology • Tuesday & Wednesday: Chemistry • Thursday: Physics (energy) • Friday: Ecology & Earth Science (fossil fuels) • Each day provides a variety of interactive and hands-on activities for the students.

  5. Curriculum Week 2Applications of Solar Energy • Monday: Solar Energy Capture & Storage • Tuesday: Solar Technology (solar panels) • Wednesday: Solar Engineering (solar car) • Thursday: Field Trip (UM algae biodiesel lab) • Friday: Competition & Expo

  6. Competition & Expo Morning. Lessons and initial races 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Parent Workshop 2:30 – 3:00 pm. Final Races 3:00 – 4:00 pm. Student Project Expo 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Closing Ceremony
