Wireless Intelligent Network ABSTRACT: • The motive of WIN is to drive “IN” capabilities in the wireless networks. • WIN is defined as an architecture that separates the service logic and feature functionality from the wireless network switch and places that functionality in other platform of network. • WIN paradigm is the key to helping service providers offer new enhanced services at fair rate.

  3. Overview • Intelligent Network (IN) • IN is an architectural concept in the distributed environment. • Notable success is achieved in the U.S. long distance telephone industry and virtual private network services contributed strongly to growth in traffic & revenue.

Overview • Wireless Intelligent Network(WIN) • Not only are subscribers insisting on more functionality, not only are subscriber bases growing at tremendous rate, but as subscribers become increasingly accustomed to using wireless phone. • Equivalent vendors have not been able to keep up with request for new triggers and protocol that the market demand in order to provide enhanced service. • Rapid creation and deployment of services has become the hallmark of IN.

  8. IN Architecture (IN/1): Telcordia Technologies developed the concept of Intelligent Network 1 (IN/1).

  11. Functional Components of WIN: • Mobile Switching Center(MSC) It is Service Switching Point in the IN. Switching function portion of the network. • Service Control Point (SCP) Controls service delivery to subscribers. • Intelligent Peripheral(IP) Gets information directly from subscribers, translates to data and hands it off to another element in the network like SCP.

  12. Functional Components of WIN: • Signal Transfer Point(STP) This is packet switch in signaling network. Handles distribution of control signals between different elements in the network. STP concentrates link traffic for the network. • Location Registers Supplements MCS with information about subscribers. • Visitor Location Register(VLR) • Home Location Register(HLR)

In Conclusion • Wireless Intelligent Networking allows the service provider to rapidly introduce new services. • Mobile Pre-Pay is a common application. • Maintaining and monitoring the Common Channel Signaling (CCS) network is critical to its success. • Understanding and troubleshooting the SS7 protocol is a key part of that success.
