3. The Experiment Ms. Meadows loves bubble gum and would like to be able to blow bigger bubbles than anyone at PHMS. She bought four different brands of gum and has planned an experiment to test the bubble power of the bubble gum brands she purchased.

4. State a Problem • Ask a question Which brand of bubble gum will blow the largest bubbles? • Do preliminary research Check the ingredients on each package to see which has the greater percentage of gum base.

5. State a Hypothesis • Make a prediction or educated guess • If…then statement If Bubblicious has the greater percentage of gum base, then it will produce larger bubbles.

6. Design an Experiment • List materials 3 pieces of each brand of gum (Bubblicious, Double Bubble, Bubble Yum, Bazooka) Meter stick Balance scales Data table • Write step by step procedures Measure four grams of each piece of gum Chew one piece of gum for five minutes Blow three bubbles with the chewed gum Record the measurements Repeat steps 2-4 for each piece of gum

7. Conduct an Experiment • Follow procedures • Collect and organize data • Record the measurement of each bubble on the data table

8. Communicate Findings • Analyze data Average the bubble measurements for each brand of bubble gum Organize data in a graph • State conclusions ________ is the best bubble gum for bubble blowing.
