Daily Schedule • 8:43 – Morning Routine • 9:00 – Language Arts/Centers (M,T,W,Th) • 10:40 – RECESS • 11:00 – Math • 11:45 – LUNCH/ 2nd to buddies • 12:30 – 1st grade activities • 1:00 – Writing • 2:00 – Science, Social Studies, P.E. • 2:43 – Dismiss Music, Library, Computer Lab - TBD PE – Tuesdays and Fridays

  5. Lunch • PLEASE, PLEASE, pretty please use the account system through office or district website and keep updated. • Help child memorize account number • Are you buying or bringing? That is the question! Please know the answer! • Send a HEALTHY snack for 10:40 recess no soda, candy, glass bottles • May eat with child, but leave at recess

  6. Friday Folders • This is our mailbox • Return every Friday • Clean out and return with only homework

  7. Attendance, Drop off, Dismissal • $80,000 in lost funds due to absences  • 8:30 when door is OPEN children can unpack, do morning tasks, have quiet reading time. • Bell rings at 8:43 • Do not leave children unattended on the yard prior to 8:30 • School session vacations discouraged but if unavoidable Independent Study should be completed • Valet service in drop off zone • Friday walk together to school -PTA

  9. Birthdays Party invitations need to be given outside the classroom unless all are invited. No cakes, parties, goody bags Book or pencil donation are allowed but not necessary • Class sings, gives a card and asks questions • Birthday person chooses a story to read aloud and gets a free homework night!

Reading • Small group guided reading, differentiated instruction, Project Read sequential phonics • Class anthology for reading and comprehension skills • Activity rotations with word work, phonetic skill focus and literary response projects • Storytime Picture Books and chapter books • Whales tales/AR- See handout • www.earobics.com//gamegoo

  11. Writing Writing a focused paragraph(s) in descriptive, narrative, expository and research genres. • Thinking Maps • Write from the Beginning • Journal Writing at rotations • Writer’s workshop • Free choice writing
