  3. BIOGRAPHY Frida Kahlo, one of Mexico’s greatest artists, has a full name of Magdalena Carmen Frida Kahlo y Calderόn. Naciό el seis de julio de 1907. Su ciudad natal fueCoyocoán, Ciudad de México, México. At age six, Frida was diagnosed with polio. On September 17, 1925, she was riding a bus with a friend and got in a terrible accident. This event was the main reason she started painting. In 1929, she married Diego Rivera, divorced him ten years later, then got back together with him in 1940. In 1953, she had her first solo exhibition in Mexico and sold many of her paintings. Frida died on July 13th at the age of forty-seven.

Frida said she painted her so often because she was the subject she knew best. She also had over 50 drawings and sketches in addition to all of her paintings.

Later, gangrene caused her to have to amputate her right leg up to her knee. Before she died, Frida was diagnosed with bronchopneumonia. Her paintings can be seen everywhere from mouse pads to murals. She has influenced over 65,000 web sites. Also, Frida was the first Hispanic woman to be displayed on a postage stamp. She is well known and influences many artists even after nearly six decades after she died.
