  6. Sabbath School is the Heartbeat of the Church  In Sabbath School we learn to better know and love our Heavenly Father.  In Sabbath School we learn to love one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.

  9. The Sabbath School Class • Some classes meet for 1 hour • Some classes meet for 40 minutes

  10. The Sabbath School Class • Some classes have many members • Some classes have 6-8 members

  11. The Purpose of the Sabbath School Class  Bible Study • Fellowship • Outreach • Missions

  12. The Sabbath School Class is Not • Not a lecture • Not a sermon • Not an indoctrination session • Not a training session • Not even instruction

  13. People Learn in Different Ways  By hearing (auditory) • By seeing (visual) • By touching (tactile) • By thinking (cognitive) • By feeling (emotive) • By doing (experiential)

  14. Class Type and Teaching Style Because people learn in a variety of ways, a variety of class types and teaching styles need to be implemented.

  15. The Class Teacher/Facilitator 1. The person to teach the lesson and/or serve as discussion leader, depending on the type of class.

  16. 2.The person who facilitates the acquisition of Bible knowledge. • The person who motivates spiritual growth. 4. The person who helps members apply the lesson to life.

  17. The person who provides an effective setting in which learning can take place. 6. The person who guides and leads the group toward a defined spiritual and practical goal.

  18. The Class Leader – Key to Growth of the Sabbath School A tactful, enthusiastic hospitable, caring, loving, and concerned, active member with a burden for souls.

  19. Duties of the Class Leader • Becomes acquainted with class members: their interests, spiritual journey, and needs. 2. Cares for the mechanics of the class

  20. Watches for visitors and invites them to attend the class. 4. Welcomes all, introduce guest, and provides an atmosphere of warm fellowship for members and guests.

  21. Takes class attendance. This record is the key resource for identifying missing members. Arrange follow-up of missing and sick members by visiting, phoning or sending cards. (handout/s) 6. Arranges for a class community outreach project. (handout)

  22. Arranges for world mission offering and mission emphasis – if no Sabbath School program. (handout) 8. Arranges for and outside class social activity at least once a quarter.

  23. Who Skips Sabbath School/Church?

  24. Basic Reasons For Leaving Church / Sabbath School • Lack of warm fellowship and support by fellow members.

  25. Lack of excellence in Sabbath School programming. • Church services do not meet felt needs in coping with the complexities of daily life.

  26. SEVENKEY ELEMENTS OF SUCCESS OF THE CLASS • Class planning session • Care for missing class members • Class Leader’s time: to share experience and to train, to pray, promote and assign visits • Application of lesson • Corporate Sharing • Fellowship/Evaluation

  27. If Sabbath School members know they are truly loved and cared for and they experience the love and caring they will be in Sabbath School early each Sabbath morning!

  28. Let us help to hasten Our Lord’s Soon Return by making our Sabbath School EXCELLENT Let us not be content with ‘just getting by.’ Then we will hear the words at His return……..
