  1. Chino Afternoon Show Host, “Afternoons with Chino!” M-F 3p-7p Chino was captivated by the turntable when he was 14 years old.  He began watching local DJ's rock the night away at house parties in his neighborhood.  Those early experiences eventually led Chino to purchase his own set of tables and begin to carve his mark DJing at his own house parties…all before he got into high school!  He also discovered radio around the same time. “I pretty much stalked my favorite DJs until l was given a shot in 1996” he told us. He followed opportunities from San Diego, to Phoenix, and all over. Eventually he landed in the Bay area in the afternoon slot on KYLD.   Chino's talents have allowed him to adapt to multiple formats in SF, Phoenix, Portland and Denver all in different day parts.   His amazing work on the turntables not only got him into radio, but got him noticed by Moet-Hennessy USA. He is one of only a dozen brand ambassadors to travel all over the US spinning for the crowds in the name of Hennessy.  In his time working in radio, Chino has interviewed almost everyone from Lady Gaga, Carlos Santana, The Black Eyed Peas, Janet Jackson, Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, ex-president Bill Clinton, Tom Cruise, Eminem…really…almost EVERYONE.  As exciting as all those experiences were, nothing compared to a show in 1999.  “I had a show for Cinco de Mayo in Phoenix that was headlined by Jay Z and had 15,000 people in attendance. The station needed a Mariachi to open the show and luckily my father was a recording artist in Mexico in his younger years. I was able to get my dad to open the show.  Introducing my dad in front of 15,000 people is one of the biggest highlights of my life” he recalled.  For all his successes and wins, family comes first for Chino.  The father of 3 young boys, Chino is also a home school teacher along with his wife Marie.  “I am honest, FUN and outspoken and FAMILY comes first. I ’m somewhat of a hip-hop historian, I collect shoes, I’m a tech geek and I stand for what I believe in. Did I mention I’m a tech geek?”
