  1. Main proposed Trigger 4 – 7 GevDrell-Yan dimuon event from MC 2 muon tracks Station 1 must fire At least 3 out of 4 planes fire

  2. Hodo signal assignment to Trigger Modules

  3. Trigger Matrix modules • First Layer contains 4 modules; outputs (the C-port) sent to the 2nd layer module. • Module 1 & 3 covers the upper part of hodo planes; Module 2 & 4 covers the lower part of the planes. • Input signals are sampled at the RF clock rate (53MHz). • If the hit pattern of a module satisfies a MC muon track, the station 1 hodo hits pattern and muon charge sign are transferred to the 2nd layer. • The 2nd layer looks up the station 1 pattern to determine whether this is a dimuon event, then send out a bit to the Trigger Supervisor.

  4. Trigger Matrix Modules • Need to transfer 86*2 bits to the 2nd layer module for the main trigger. • It is desirable to reduce the data transfer to 128 (4*32) bits to avoid complexity of timing issue. Maybe some of the hodo 1 paddles can be merged? How? • To implement other types of trigger, additional info must pass to the 2nd layer, e.g. a few bits to indicate the trigger type.

  5. Other triggers • The main goal is to deduct the random mu+mu- pairs, so we need: • Mu+ singles • mu- singles • Mu+mu+ pairs • Mu-mu-pairs • Need someone to run MC and pass the trigger roads (i.e. the paddle numbers) to Shiuan-Hal.

  6. E866 Trigger List • What are they? • How to implement (direct to TS or via Trigger matrix modules)?
