Characteristics ofPARCC and SBAC • States are pooling expertise and resources to develop a high quality assessment system. • Assessments will be • aligned to a common set of standards. • administered online. • comparable across states within a consortium and across consortia. • based on college- and career-readiness standards. • Proficiency will indicate a student is ready/on track for placement in non-remedial, credit-bearing, college-level coursework. • Two- and four-year institutions of higher education are involved.

  11. Potential Costs for Required Regular Assessments Consortium costs include Reading, Writing, and Mathematics in Grades 3-8 and high school. Vendor and State Developed costs include Reading, Writing, and Mathematics in Grades 3-8 and high school and Science in Grades 5, 7, and high school. Does not include funding for online testing or staffing needs.
