Builder Manufacturers Contractors and owners Architects BIM BIM Computer Graphics and Marketing Engineer • The term Building Information Modeling (BIM) has different meanings: • tridimensional model: typically produced using a 3d‐dimensional building modeling software; • database: include geometry, properties, quantities, spatial and functional relationships of building components; • procedure: it is the process of generating and managing building data during its life cycle (LCA). • The main goal of BIM is reduce the risk of failure of a project B.I.M. is a technology for the exchange information between several professional (non only with documents and papers but also with an available data format and between different systems)

  15. Vincenzo Donato PhD Candidate - DICeA Università degli Studi di Firenze Dottorato Internazionale Congiunto (MIUR) TU “Carolo Wilhelmina” zu Braunschweig Internationales Graduiertenkolleg 802 (DFG) The research THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT ACHIEVED: Developed procedures to facilitate the design process, especially in the early design phase. CAD to BIM to CAD: an interoperable procedure to obtain 2d drawing towards the dialog with a parametric 3d model; BIM to 3Ddprinter: it was develop an optimized procedure which takes into account the level of detail (LOD) of the model; Pictures to BIM: a simply procedure to obtain a conceptual 3d model from pictures where conduce solar simulation; Note 1: Next development could be to realize a procedure for the automatic realization of report document connected to the spaces or geometry (especially for a tender. Note 2: It was developed also a procedure for the realization of rendering. Note 3: Pictures to BIM was published an article on the international conference “EGRAPHIA 2012”. Note 4: All the procedure were also acquired in the GMP system. They are interested because the company doesn't use BIM technology, especially in the early design phase.
