  2. ToK - Truth • Points for discussion in classes • We naturally seem to seek what is true? Why is that? How is it manifest? • Each of the described theories of truth have problems – can you identify some of them? • Does it make sense to say that some works of art are truer than others • Discuss the two extreme approaches to truth - dogmatism and relativism. • What do we mean by a “half-truth”? Can you think of examples? • The search for the truth can result in unexpected and even unpredictable or dangerous results – does this justify limiting basic research and technological development for example. • Wisdom is said to lie beyond knowledge – what would you say are the characteristics of a wise person?
