  2. Introduction • William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright. • Regarded as the greatest writer in English language. • He is often called England's national poet and the "Bard of Avon". • His plays have been performed more than any other playwright.

  3. Early life • Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon. • At the age of 18, he married 26-year-old Anne Hathaway, with whom he had three children. • In 1585 he began a successful career as an actorand writer. Shakespeare’s birthplace

  4. William Shakespeare’s famous works Macbeth • Macbeth is a play about a regicide and its aftermath. • It is Shakespeare's shortest tragedy and is believed to have been written sometime between 1603 and 1607.
