NAPTA profiling

The National Association of Professional Teaching Assistants (NAPTA) offers the Professional Development Review (PDR) to help teaching assistants and support staff develop professionally. The PDR includes a detailed individual report, membership benefits, and feedback on skills. The PDR is available to all support staff involved in teaching and learning.   3. PDR • Professional Development Review (PDR) • Help you consider your role(s) and any other skills that you may have • Compare these with the relevant set of occupational standards • Help you think about how you might develop, and the support you would need

  4. Benefits for staff • Detailed individual report • Allow you to better articulate where you would benefit from additional support • Demonstrate the range of skills that are required for your role(s) • Full membership of NAPTA for a year, free of charge

  5. Feeding back reports • Each person receives an individual report • The school will distribute the reports and discuss with staff any matters arising

  6. Self-perception • No external assessment • You will be asked if you are confident with regard to specific skills or knowledge • Based on how you feel about yourself • You will not be required to justify your answers

  7. Who is the PDR for? • All support staff involved with teachingand learning • Includes: • teaching assistants • mentors • classroom assistants • SEN support • pastoral support • bilingual support • cover supervisors

  8. Data collection • Online questionnaire • Unique password to log into the website • You may need assistance in logging in, but the completion of the questionnaire is very simple once you are logged in

  9. When answering… • Be confident • Go with your first reaction • If you are unsure what somethingmeans, use the More button next to each question, or ask the person next to you or the person running thesession • You must answer every question and you must click on the Submit button at the end
