  2. 2006-08 Measurement and Verification • Programs vary by IOU • Pure Upstream – Replace on burnout • Upstream – Early Replacement • Downstream – Early Replacement • All DEER Measures

  3. 2006-08 Measurement and Verification • Sampling and Uncertainty • Monte Carlo simulations to inform cost-benefit analysis for instrumentation • Assumed larger variation in usage than standard assumptions, larger samples • Samples proportional to savings by IOU and by climate zone

  4. 2006-08 Measurement and Verification • Gross Savings • Unit level performance analysis to inform DEER modeled savings • Measure replacement AC performance relative to manufacturers’ performance • Re-run the DEER models

  5. 2006-08 Measurement and Verification • Data Collection • HVAC unit input power and supply, return and ambient air temperature are logged onsite for several months post installation • Spot power and temperature measurements and airflow are also taken during the initial site visit • Contextual data includes plug loads, lighting, mechanical equipment, setpoint schedules, building characteristics and AC nameplate info

  6. 2006-08 Measurement and Verification • Net Savings • Uses a self report NTG survey • Supplemented by vendor/contractor interviews • Participant spillover and freeridership • Uses a common set of questions and scoring procedure to ensure uniformity
