  25. INSTRUCTOR’S REFLECTION Chief, Allen B. Asch • Culinary Institute of America graduate • Author, Hospitality Cost Control: A Practical Approach • Certified Culinary Educator with the American Culinary Federation • Adjunct Professor, UNLV Hotel School • Nevada State SKILLS USA Advisor of the Year, 2005 At ATTC we have established standards in Culinary Arts that equate to the standards that are expressed by the industry. One of the strongest statements from industry is that the employee needs to be at work and on time. Our success stories are numerous, with many students matriculating to post secondary culinary arts training centers in New York, California, Denver, Arizona, and Oregon. We have students that have succeeded at many of Las Vegas top restaurants including Postrio, Delmonico’s, the Foundation Room, part of the House of Blues, as well as Executive Chef at Tournament Players Club (TPC) golf course. A telltale sign of our success is the ability to call chefs from throughout the Valley and to place students for internships and externships based on the history we have created with the different establishments. The resources at ATTC are a great lure to bring qualified and able faculty/staff, and to retain employees.

  26. INSTRUCTOR’S REFLECTION Karin Erickson -Jones • Graduated ATTC Hotel Operations 1987 • UNLV Hotel Administration graduate • Hired 2002 as an ATTC instructor of Hotel Operations II 2002 • Work experience included: Las Vegas Hilton front desk TBi Friday’s, MGM Grand VIP reservations, casino special events Opened the Stratsophere, casino special events; Newmarket International, Inc. Training and Account Manager. Extensive travel throughout the US trained and automated hotel sales and catering departments. Worked in England, Netherlands, Canada, and Mexico. Personal: ATTC’s concept of preparing students for the workforce, college or postsecondary education, and a career is the backbone of it’s training. It is great to have a school that focuses on the workplace and future careers. It helps students to experience the real world and see and experience success during and after high school. I loved the concept 20 years ago and still do today! It is imperative for our teenage youth!
