  4. Sources about Namibia- The Development statistics are useful in helping us think about the quality of life within a country. Namibia would be consider an LEDC country compared to the U.K. G.N.P in Namibia is $7,500, compared to the U.K.’s $31,800. Pilot Pre-Release 2009 This means Namibia can’t afford to spend as much on healthcare (1 doctor per 3300), compared to the U.K. (1 per 1900). This poorer provision of healthcare means infant mortality is higher in Namibia (47.23 per 1000) compared to the U.K. (5.01 per 1000). And life expectancy is lower (42.11 yrs) compared to the U.K. (78.7).

Development Statistics • Issue inhibiting the development of LEDC economies. • Lack of infrastructure, roads, railways, airports. • Lack of capital for investment in manufacturing and processes. • Lack of skilled workers, due to lack of investment in education and training. • Difficulty in accessing MEDC markets. • Political Stability. We wouldn’t usually associated an LEDC country with such high figures within the tertiary/secondary sector, LEDC economies tend to be reliant on primary industry such as agriculture and miner extraction.
