  1. Life As We Knew It Nicholas Haddad

  2. Summary Miranda is a high school sophomore having a great life, when suddenly, an asteroid collides with the moon, moving it closer to Earth. This causes gas prices to rise, food to run short and natural disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes to happen even more and worse than ever. Will Miranda and her family survive? Will the world ever be the same again? Read Life As we Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer to find out.

  3. My R For my R, I made a soap carving of the moon. I made it of the moon because it plays a major role in this story. An asteroid knocks it closer in orbit, which puts many families in danger. It also grows larger in the night sky. This scares Miranda at first, because she will always have to look at the giant moon in the sky. She does get used to this.

  4. Soap Carving of the Moon The picture stretched a little…(It really isn’t this elliptical)

  5. My E For my E, I emailed the author, Susan Beth Pfeffer.

  6. My E Hello! My name is Nicholas and I am a 6th grade student in Birmingham, Michigan.  I am doing a project called a Response and Exploration (R&E) on your book Life As We Knew It.  I really enjoyed your book.  It was a very interesting topic. It would be really crazy if an asteroid crashed into the moon in real life! I'd like to ask you a few questions... -Is Miranda based on anyone you know? A child of yours? A friend? -Are you interested in astronomy? Do you like natural disasters? -If you were a character in this series, who would you be? -Would you recommend any books to read over the summer? Thank you for your time.  I appreciate it. Sincerely, Nicholas H.

  8. #1: The Fault In Our Stars by John Green The Fault In Our Stars is about a two cancer patients who come to fall in love. I would like to read this because I have heard many good things about it from family members and friends.

  9. #2: The Dead And The Gone by Susan Beth Pfeffer The Dead And The Gone is the sequel to Life As We Knew It. It is about a boy named Alex Morales, who lives in New York. He is going through similar problems as Miranda.

  10. #3: A Million Shades of Gray by Cynthia Kadohata A Million Shades of Gray is about a young man and his elephant being attacked by the Viet Kong after the war. I got this book at the book fair, and it seemed interesting to me, and that is why I wanted to read it.

  11. #4: The Pearl by John Steinbeck The Pearl is about a young girl named Coyotito. She gets bitten by a scorpion, and her father has to find a pearl to pay the doctor. I have read a John Steinbeck novel before, and I hope this is just as good.

  12. #5: Animal Farm by George Orwell Animal Farm is about a group of rogue animals trying to take over their farm. I have read this before, and really liked it, so I would like to read it again.
