WORDij 3.0. Conversions. A significant feature of WORDij is the file format conversion utilities, which make it easy to move your network data from one software package to another. The next series of slides will demo how to do three conversions:

  1. WORDij 3.0 Conversions

A significant feature of WORDij is the file format conversion utilities, which make it easy to move your network data from one software package to another. • The next series of slides will demo how to do three conversions: • Convert WordLink .wtg and .ptg files into MultiNet Node and Link .csv files. • Convert a WordLink .pr file into a NodeTric Pajek .net file. • Convert a Pajek .net file into MultiNet Node and Link .csv files. Note: UCINET reads Pajek .net files.

  3. 1a. Convert WordLink .wtg into MultiNet Node .csv files. • Select the WORDij Conversions tab • Select the NODConvert sub-tab. • Browse for your WordLink .wtg file you wish to convert. • Browse and define a NOD .csv file. We suggest that you begin the file name with “NOD” which is required by MultiNet. • Click Start • A message will display that the program is finished. Click, Ok. • Then a log file message will display. Click Close. • Your WordLink .wtg file has been converted to a MultiNet Node .csv file. • Next you need to use the LINConvert conversion to create the MultiNet Link .csv file to read in your network into MultiNet • The next slide is a screen shot summary of the NODConvert steps.

Convert WordLink .ptg files into MultiNet Link .csv files. • Select the WORDij Conversions tab • Select the LINConvert sub-tab. • Browse for your WordLink .ptg file you wish to convert. • Browse and define a LIN .csv file. We suggest that you begin the file name with “LIN” which is required by MultiNet. • Click Start • A message will display that the program is finished. Click, Ok. • Then a log file message will display. Click Close. • Your WordLink .ptg file has been converted to a MultiNet Link .csv file. • The next slide is a screen shot summary of the LIN Convert steps. • Note: with the Node and Link .csv you can now read this network into MulitiNet.

Convert a WordLink .pr file into a NodeTric Pajek .net file. • Select the WORDij Conversions tab • Select the NodeTric sub-tab. • Browse for your WordLink .pr file you wish to convert. • Enter a focal word. • Decide on the Number of steps, the default is 3. • Browse and define a Pajek .net file. • Click Start • A message will display that the program is finished. Click, Ok. • Then a log file message will display. Click Close. • Your WordLink .pr file has been converted to a NodeTric Pajek .net file.. • The next slide is a screen shot summary of the NodeTric conversions steps. • Note: The Pajek .net file can be imported into UCINET.

Convert a Pajek .net file into MultiNet Node and Link .csv files. • Select the WORDij Conversions tab • Select the NetToCSV sub-tab. • Browse for your Pajek .net file you wish to convert. • Select the Nodes option. • Browse and define a Node .csv file. We suggest that you begin the file name with “NOD” which is required by MultiNet. • Click Start • A message will display that the program is finished. Click, Ok. • Then a log file message will display. Click Close. • Your Pajek .net file has been converted to a MultiNet Node .csv file. • Next you need to repeat these steps to convert the .net to a Link .csv file in order to read network into MultiNet • The next slide is a screen shot summary of the NetToCSV for Nodes steps

Convert a Pajek .net file into MultiNet Node.csv file. • Select the WORDij Conversions tab • Select the NetToCSV sub-tab. • Browse for your Pajek .net file you wish to convert. • Select the Nodes option. • Browse and define a Link .csv file. We suggest that you begin the file name with “LIN” which is required by MultiNet. • Click Start • A message will display that the program is finished. Click, Ok. • Then a log file message will display. Click Close. • Your Pajek .net file has been converted to a MultiNet Link .csv file. • The next slide is a screen shot summary of the NetToCSV for Nodes steps • You can now read the converted .Net file into MultiNet.
