  1. The Piper’s Pub APP Presentation by Group 4: Cecil Ash Erik Danecker Ashley McEachern Jayde Olscamp Brayden Poirier Breton Potter

  2. Proposition Our design project idea is a smartphone application that will allow the user to see how long the pub line is from their phone, drink specials, and upcoming events.

  3. Why? The pub is a very popular location for most St.FX students, especially on weekends. However, no one wants to wait in long lines in the cold for an extended period of time. Our idea allows students to decide what time is best to go to the pub without the inconvenience of waiting in a long line. Also the app will be a simple, easy and effective way to get information from the pub to the students.

  4. What have we already done? At this stage in our project, we have already been in contact with the pub and prospective students. The demand is high for this app, and the pub is completely on board. We are currently working on the coding of the app, the construction of the website, and acquiring the technology required.

  5. What is next? Our biggest challenge for this project is getting a picture of the length of the line at the pub to the application and the website. At the moment, we are in contact with Dr.Man Lin and Quentin from IT services to help us put everything together. We are also looking into different security cameras to use outside that will send the pictures automatically to the website and app.

  6. Budget • We are currently estimating these costs for our project: • Camera - $100-$300 • Application fee - $100 • Advertising - $50 All other devices such as the laptop needed to control the app and website, will hopefully be donated by Jamie Powell.
