  1. Year 5Observational Poetry Spring 1 Weeks 1 and 2 In English, Woodpeckers have been creating poems based around a selection we have read in class. We have been thinking about how we can use personification, alliteration and ‘expanded noun phrases’ to write poetically. We have copied the formats from the original poets but have used our own descriptive ideas to make them our own. We hope you enjoy them. Graphics by Ted and William

  2. I am a Writer by Lelan I am the rocking forwards and back like a baby’s cradle. I am the gliding bird floating through the blue skies over dark sea. I am the slicer of water slicing through, like a knife through butter. I am the sound of crashing waves bouncing off walls like a ball. I am the shiny floored palace Standing proudly for attention. I am a boat…waiting to be set free for adventure.

  3. Be Amazed by Cloe The sky is a portal to a world full of wonders, to a world full of whirls and swirls. The sky is the flickering flames of an evening campfire. The sky is a volcano which can be fiery red or dull ash grey. The sky is like the fiery eyes of a fearless dragon. The sky is like a milky way full of sparkles and glitter. The sky is a beast, gentle but can be fierce. So smile as you stand under the sky, Be amazed at the King of Nature.

  4. Be Enthralled by Adam The sky is like a bowl full of rainbows. The sky is like the Fiery belly of planet Mars. The sky is strange with its angry darkness. The sky is a lion Ready to pounce on it’s prey. The sky is a powerful Beast that never stops. The sky is like a dream, it is imaginary and powerful.

  5. Lady Winter by Charlotte Lady Winter is stamping around, looking for trouble, changing every leaf, every detail with her icy power. Lady Winter is casting a spell, Sprinkling wonderful, magical frost Over empty lands and villages. Lady Winter is creeping through the frosty forest and silently covering us with snow.

  6. I am a writer by Ted • I am a suitcase of knowledge • stuffed full of secrets and facts. • I am always with you, • Although I am sometimes empty. • I am the winner of every battle • Even though you sometimes think not. • I have a galaxy of thoughts and dreams inside, • waiting for use. • I am full of memories, • Even if it’s a squash inside. • I am packed under lots of layers, • like a Russian doll. • I am a brain…waiting. • Please use me!!

  7. I am a Writer by Charlie I am the risk taker, the one hidden in the box. I am the loser but I always win. I am the thing that sneaks, under the table, one face showing. I am a dice lurking in the box waiting… for your next move. I am the professional gambler, the one that flies and rolls across the table. I am the disliked charter, shouted at and waster of money. I am the dream shatterer of the number six. I am the sneaky under dog that bites your wallet. I am the overlord, people kiss me for the luck of the roll.

  8. I am a writer by Suki • I am the protector • of fruity treasures and boring tools. • I am a school bag… waiting for • Monday morning. I am the monstrous work eater that loses your homework.
