1. Year 5's Heroes and Heroines Poetry Day.

2. On Thursday October 8th it was National Poetry Day, with this year’s theme being ‘Heroes and Heroines.’ Year 5 had a day of poetry, including cross curricular links with art, PSHE and ICT. The day was introduced by reading the poem, ‘World’s Worst Super Hero’ by David Bateman. This was followed by a role-play session, developing scenes where individuals have stood against the crowd to do the right thing. The whole class visited the FSU to show them the lovely ‘hero’ costumes we were wearing. We then split into groups to take part in three workshops. We had a fantastic day and produced some brilliant work which can be seen in the following pages! Thank you to Mrs Waring, who organised such a great day!

7. Policeman Paul. Policeman Paul is very, very, tall. Policeman Paul is always on the ball. Policeman Paul fights mean and nasty criminals. Policeman Paul always helps people. If you are lost he is always to the rescue. If a burglar takes your things he will get them back. Policeman Paul is a hero and someone very special. The Chum The blazing hot fire, Burning like the sun. For once the young boy was called the Super Chum. He was like our teacher, she was a good oldun, For it’s now time to have a little fun, So put the fire out but do not give a shout Now it’s out everyone can cheer and shout. But do not get in his way because he’ll freeze you out! These are just two examples of the great poetry we produced in the workshops!
