  1. Quick Guide to ARIS Learn When you first login to ARIS, select the Learn Tab

  2. Navigating Learn Once in Learn, select the Learn tabs to get to its tools: Click on the tab to select different features

  3. Competencies Tab • Here you will find a description of each competency. Click the + to expand the list and see the next level. • Click the “Explore” button to see a list of Learning Opportunities aligned to that Domain or Competency

  4. Self-Assessment Tool • Use this tool to take a self assessment to identify your strengths and weaknesses • Click Start beside a competency framework to begin the self-assessment. • Click the Finish button to continue your assessment if you started one but did not complete it. • Click the button to expand and access previous assessment results. • Self-Assessments are private—no one can see your self-assessment unless you invite them to view it.

  5. Finding Resources in Learn Learning Opportunities are collections of professional development resources for both teachers and school leaders. There are two ways to find what you need: Search or Browse SEARCH: Enter a “key word” that might be in the title or description (Danielson, differentiation, etc.), or enter the LO # if you have it. Then click “Search” Or, BROWSE by competency or Domain. Clicking here will list all the Learning Opportunities aligned to these categories.

Highlights of Resources in Learn • Some highlighted Learning Opportunities (LOs): • Providing Teacher Feedback, # 389 The quality of feedback school leaders give to teachers significantly impacts their growth. This Learning Opportunity offers an interactive module and other resources to develop your skills. • Guides and materials for teacher facing professional development: • Introducing Your Staff to Danielson’s Competencies, #467 This is a very introductory session, but includes video resources and can be adapted as a refresher • Strengthening Teacher Practice—Interpreting the Framework with Teachers, #518 This session was designed to help teachers identify key practices, relevant to their grade and subject, while deepening their knowledge of the Framework. • Norming Resources for School Leaders and Teachers, #560 Resources to guide groups through the process of establishing a common understanding of the competencies. Includes video.

  7. LOs to Support Teacher Development • The following LOs help teachers build their skills in specific competencies— • An Introduction to Designing Coherent Instruction, #136 (Includes interactive modules, articles and tools to help teachers design coherent instruction) • An Introduction to Using Questions and Discussion Techniques, #127 (Includes interactive modules, articles, and video) • An Introduction to Using Assessment in Instruction, #130 (Includes interactive modules, videos, websites and articles) • Cognitively Engaging Students through Differentiation, #544 (Includes articles, websites and videos targeted at meaningful differentiation in the classroom).
