  1. Asia-Pacific Advanced Network 2003 Conference in Fukuoka SRP Center(Momochi Cube) On 21 Jan.2003 Open GIS with Spatial and Temporal Retrievals as well as Data Assimilations Kohei Arai Saga University arai@is.saga-u.ac.jp

  2. Objectives • Space and time search from assimilation data • Display the retrieved result of animated images on multi web browsers • Several animated image with the different time intervals should be displayed smoothly • Prediction with assimilation data should be available

  3. Layer User,Application Database UUDI Spatial search Representation XML,G-XML,GML Temporal search Simulation Prediction Open GIS,Web.GIS

  4. Intranet oriented technology, CORBA, COM Service Chaining FGDC Clearing house (ISO23950 of distributed retrievals: wizard search FGDC CSDGM and ISO19115CD based metadata Profiling, interoperability Open GIS Consortium(OGC) User Interface Presentation(Web.Browser) Business(Application) Local and/or Remote Data Access Database(raster, vector, attribute) XML,G-XML,GML→Schema

  5. GML(Geographic Markup Language) ○OGC version2.1.1 ○XML based Geographical data description language ○G-XML of DB origin of ML was merged to GML ○It contains three schema, feature, geometry and Xlink schema HTML OGC ver.2.1.1 of GML Schema XML Feature Geometry Xlink G-XML(DB)

  6. G-XML,GML,XML with schema ISO23950(Z39.50) FGDC was assigned by president in 1994 Protocol:Z39.50(JIS-x 0806) based clearing house:GEO Metadata:ISO 19115 Content Standard for Digital Geospatial Metadata Profile:GEO ver.2.2-ISO 19115CD ISO/CD 15046-15:Geographic Information Part-15 (Metadata) in 1998 Interoperability:Web.Mapping Test bed II Merge GML to G-XML Problems:Visualization of retrieved results (Geological region should be displayed) Relationship between metadata and spatial information (Extend metadata contents and attributes)

  7. Z39.50 is a standard protocol for database search of distributed GIS

  8. Client Query: Date, Location, Layer, Altitude, Server Metadata search FGDC+time tag time and space domain Data Access GML(vector data) to GIF data Client Retrieved Result Animation and simulations

  9. GIF Animation Vector to raster Morphing GIF animation

  10. SVG animation Morphing SVG animation

  13. Example of SVG animation

  14. Example of nviz plug-in

  15. Concluding Remarks • Open GIS→Space and time search • GML+time tag • Smooth display of animated retrieved multi result image with morphing • GML→GIF VS GML→XSLT→SVG • Simulation and prediction based on wavelet analysis
