Principal Survey • http://tea.texas.gov/Texas_Educators/Preparation_and_Continuing_Education/Principal_Surveys_to_Evaluate_Educator_Preparation_Programs/ • Located in the Educator Certification Online System (ECOS) for principals with first-year teachers on their campus.  • Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits • 1 cpe = completion of principal training • .25 cpe = completion of each survey completed and submitted • Texas Education Directory (AskTED) • Maintain updated • Additional information regarding the survey will be emailed to superintendents, human resources personnel, and principals using email addresses located here • Survey collection began on April 5, 2017 • All surveys must be submitted by June 15, 2017. • ?????? principalsurvey@tea.texas.gov and FAQ

  8. Mind-Set Change The goal of T-TESS/T-PESS/SLO’S is not to provide feedback, but to develop and support a teacher’s/Principal’s ability to reflect upon and strengthen their own performance.

  9. T-TESS/T-PESS/SLO’s Are the tools to achieve: • Increased Student Growth/Achievement • Teacher Effectiveness • Administrator Effectiveness • Improved Culture • Increased Collaboration

  10. Reminders • Timelines – Orientation, Pre/Post Conferences, End of Year Conference, etc. • Please make sure everyone is certified • Late hires/second semester • Transparency – Provide timelines, orientation, expectations, etc.

Requirements for Evaluators T-TESS-Job Requirements • Attend 3 day training • Re-Certify on-line each year in June (For 3 years then every 3 years) • AEL, ILD or ILT to ILD certificate T-PESS? • Job description includes evaluation or appraise. Not just observe (+ 2nd appraisers) • Board Approved Certificate available from Teach for Texas Portal System T-PESS-Job Requirements • Attend 2 day training • Job description includes evaluation or appraise. Not just observe • Do we need to modify Rubric for APs? Certificate available from Region 13 website

  14. Administrator Job Requirements May want to include in administrative job requirements. • AEL, ILD, or ILT to ILD • T-TESS • T-PESS May want to send notice to all employees in your district of new requirements for administrative positions.

Student Growth Measures Roll-out 2017-18 (required) or Waiver (must pilot) 4 choices/combinations: • Student Learning Objectives; • Student Portfolios; • Pre and Post-Test results on district-level assessments; or • Value-added data based on student state assessment results. Proposed-Pilot for one more year. All districts required to pilot. Superintendent will need to request a waiver.

  25. HQ survey = Equity Survey • Purpose: to report on state level equity gaps for out of field and inexperienced teachers • Educational aides still need to be HQ • Snapshot: 10/2/17 • Due date: 11/15/17 • Technical assistance workshop: TBD

Fingerprinting process update • Change Fingerprint Upload File: The entity fingerprint upload process has changed to utilize a single file format for all upload types. • Display Fingerprint Upload Results: The ECOS upload status screens have been updated to display the results of the fingerprint upload files. • No Non-Cert FastPass PDFs: FastPass PDF attachments are no longer sent to the uploading entity. Instead, the fingerprint status results are now displayed in ECOS screens. • No Non-Cert FastPass Emails to Entities: Emails with FastPass PDF attachments are no longer sent to uploading entities from TEA. The fingerprint status results are now displayed in ECOS screens. • No Upload Result Emails to Entities: Emails containing Excel or text file attachments with fingerprint upload results are no longer sent to the uploading entities. Fingerprint upload results are now displayed in the entity’s ECOS upload status screens. • No Educator FastPass Emails: FastPass emails are no longer sent to certified educators. An educator’s pre-enrollment data is now displayed in ECOS screens.

Overview • The purpose of the Texas Educators’ Ethics Training is to provide Texas educators and administrators, as well as other school personnel, with an understanding and awareness of what behavior constitutes inappropriate educator conduct, as well as strategies to recognize, prevent, and respond to inappropriate conduct. • The training is designed to strengthen educators’ knowledge of appropriate conduct regarding interactions and relationships with students within the classroom and community, as well as provide context and processes that encourage acquiring, refining, and sustaining learning and resources related to educator ethics.
