    3. Role of Room Consultant A Room Consultant (RC) Facilitates STAR Events To Facilitate Means To: Manage Flow of STAR Event Give Same Directions To All Participants Refrain From Giving Your Opinion, Even When Asked

Role of Room Consultant To Facilitate Means To: Provide Info To Evaluators, When They Request, By Referring Them To Appropriate Document i.e. “Is this display the correct size?” The response would be “According to page 50 of the state manual a tabletop display is not to exceed a space 30” deep x 48” wide x 48” high.” Show them manual page

    5. Role of Room Consultant NEW FOR 2009: It Is Mandatory That All Room Consultants (RC) Are Certified Teachers In State Of Wisconsin RC Are To Be In The Room At All Times When Members Are With Evaluators Explanation For This Will Be Provided At State Leadership Conference

    6. Role of Room Consultant NEW FOR 2009: RC Responsible for Point Summary Form RC Completes Point Summary Form For Every Entry (Culinary Arts & Pastries/Baked Goods Exceptions) All National Events Use A Rubric Multiple Pages Detail Oriented

    7. Prior to Arriving at Kalahari Room Consultants Will Want To Pack: STAR Events Manuals Calculator Stop Watch Paper Clips Highlighter Sharpened Pencils

    8. Prior to Arriving at Kalahari Have I Been Assigned As A State Room Consultant? Which Event Have I Been Assigned For State Leadership Conference (SLC)? Two Weeks Prior to SLC Check FCCLA (DPI) Website For Document Entitled “2009 State STAR Events Room Consultant Assignments” for your assigned event/role

Prior to Arriving at Kalahari Room Consultants Will: Become Familiar With Assigned Event Guidelines Rubric/Rating Sheet Event Point Summary Form Plan To Attend One Of The Room Consultant Meetings On Sunday At SLC – Dinner Not Included 4:00 PM 4:45 PM (Alternate Room Consultants Please Attend) Make Arrangements To Remain In Sunday Participants Orientation Meeting Until 6:45 PM

Sunday Room Consultant Meetings Plan On Attending Either Meeting 4:00 PM 4:45 PM (Alternate Room Consultants Please Attend) Locate Chair With Your Folder On It – Events Arranged Alphabetically Starting With Row #1 Presentation With Slides Will Be Same In Each Meeting Alternate Room Consultants Please Attend 4:45 PM Meeting

Sunday Room Consultant Meeting After Meeting You Will: Collect & Organize Necessary Supplies Proceed To STAR Events Participants Orientation Meeting (same room) Proceed To Your Designated Sign-In Area For The Participants You Will Be Working With On Monday Sit In Front Of Your Event Sign Listen To General Comments For Members

Sunday STAR Events Participants Orientation Meetings There Will Be 2 Orientation Meetings - Know Which One To Attend Participants Orientation Mtg. at 5:45 Chapter Service Project Chapter Showcase Fashion Construction Fashion/Housing Display Focus on Children Recycle & Redesign Participants Orientation Mtg. at 6:15 All Events Not Listed Above

    13. Sunday STAR Events Participants Orientation Meetings The Events Listed For The 5:45 PM Mtg. Will Set-Up Their Displays From 6:15 to 6:45 PM All Outstanding Chapter Member Portfolios Will Be Turned In Sunday PM During Mtg. All Participants Must Sign-In This Year At Orientation Meeting Participants Will Sign Their First & Last Name Participants Will Sign On Their Point Summary Form

Day of the Event Prior To Starting: Post Time Schedule Outside Room Check Room Arrangement Organize Event Materials Confirm Participant Names On Time Schedule Match Names On Printed Event Worksheet Meet & Greet Evaluators Read Through Criteria With Evaluators & Point Values Arrange For Timing Of Event (1 Minute Sign)

    15. Day of Event Throughout the Day It Is Mandatory That Room Consultants Are In The Room At All Times When Members Are With Evaluators Escort Your Evaluators To Lunch And Eat Lunch With Them

Day of the Event Throughout Day: Keep Evaluators On Schedule Encourage Evaluators To Use Pencil Each Entry Needs Written Comments Complete Point Summary Form For Each Entry Do Not Combine Categories Into One Folder, Even If There Is Only One Entry i.e. Applied Tech Would Have Three Separate Folders – one for JR, one for SR, and one for Occupational

Day of Event Throughout Day: Collect Evaluator’s Paperwork After Each Presentation Review for Blank Point/Score Boxes Evaluator Circles ONE Number – Not A Range Use Whole Numbers Only – No Decimals or Fractions RC Initials Rating Sheet/Rubric at Bottom When in Agreement With Sum of Points Paper Clip Point Summary Form On Top Of Rating Sheets/Rubrics For Each Entry

Day of Event Throughout Day: Record All Scores On Event Worksheet Average Scores to Establish a Total Average Score – Do Not Round Evaluator Signs Bottom of Rating Sheet or Rubrics (even when there is not a blank) Individual Evaluators DO NOT Circle The Medal Earned on Their Rating Sheet/Rubric – this is done on Point Summary Form after averaging

The Day of Event Prior to Adjournment of Evaluators: Work Together to Make Sure There Are Not Ties Among Top 3 Placements Evaluation Team Responsible for Breaking Tie In National Event Top Ranked Entry Will Qualify for National Competition These National Events Will Qualify Top Two Entries for National Competition Chapter Service Project – display and manual Chapter Showcase – display and manual

    20. Point Summary Form National Events use Point Summary Form for Each Entry (Culinary Arts exception) Completed by Room Consultant Write Chapter in Blank For State Disregard “Team #” and “Group #” Ten Points Completed by Room Consultant These 10 Points Added to “Average Evaluator Score” on This Form Circle “Rating Achieved”

    21. Point Summary Form National Events use Point Summary Form for Each Entry Evaluators Initial This Form Twice Room Consultant Initials This Form Disregard Blank for “Event Lead Consultant” All Point Summary Forms Will Be Reviewed By Points Review Panel in TAB Room

    22. Point Summary Form State Events use Point Summary Form For Each entry (Pastries & Baked Goods exception) Completed by Room Consultant Total Points on Point Summary Form Varies in State Events: i.e. Career Pathway Portfolio form equals 10 points i.e. Child Services Lesson form equals 8 points

Point Summary Form State Events use Point Summary Form For Each entry (Pastries & Baked Goods exception) Number of Points Earned on Top Portion of Point Summary Form is Subtracted from “Average Evaluator Score” Circle “Rating Achieved” Evaluator’s Initial Form Twice Room Consultant Initials Form Once

    24. Run-Off Procedure When Parallel Events are Held at Two, or More, Sites a Run-Off Procedure Will Be Followed Top Three Placings From Each Site Will Be Invited to Run-Off WI STAR Events Assistant Will Help With Run-Off Run-Off Steps Listed in a Separate Document

    25. Tab Room Check-In Each Event with Category in separate pile i.e. Separate Piles for Each: Applied Tech JR, Applied Tech SR, Applied Tech Occupational Place Event Worksheet On Top Of Each Pile Clip Together Each Entry’s: Point Summary Form (on top) Rubrics or Rating Sheets Turn In Member’s File Folders, Portfolio, etc.

    26. TAB Room Check-In National Qualifier(s) Designated on Green Form Top State Participant Designated on Red Form Please Do Not Send Any STAR Event Materials to TAB Room via Regional Rep – STAR Events Assistants May Assist With This

Tuesday Morning Recognition Session STAR Events Recognition Session will be Tuesday Morning at SLC STAR Event Participants Will Be Seated With Their Chapters Room Consultants May Be Asked to Carry Sign Across Stage Chapter Materials Will Be Picked Up After Session from TAB Room National Qualifiers Will Attend Meeting for National Leadership Conference After Session
