The required investment is estimated to be $16 Billion US Dollars from the period 2007 – 2010 according to the National Development Strategy issued by the Ministry of Planning and Development Cooperation and these estimates include government and private investments. • MoE have plans to increase the production capacity and improve the performance of their transmission and distribution to cover the full demand gradually till 2012 by: First: Rehabilitation of the existing power plants to produce electric power to their existing access design capacity. This will have a low cost effectiveness as well as short time for implementation.
