  2. Hosta Virus X Symptoms include mottled colors, dark color ‘bleeding’ from the veins, and puckering.

  3. In Kansas, we have detected HVX in these cultivars, and others: ‘Gold Standard’ ‘Sum and Substance’ ‘Striptease’ (hosta of the year in Wichita)

  4. HVX “Cultivars” • Breakdance, Eternal Father, Kiwi Watercolours, Leopard Frog, Lunacy, Parkish Gold • Kansas Dept of Ag assumes these are ALL infected. They appear to be infected versions of previous cultivars

  5. Spread • Not known to be spread by insects • HVX spreads mechanically • Propagation/division

  6. Management • Testing is available at diagnostic labs • In home lawn/landscape: • Scout plants, remove infected plants • In greenhouse/nursery: • Rogue out and destroy infected plants • Contact your supplier Positive 2 lines Negative 1 line
