  16. New on the Horizon

  17. EOS Processing Transition to NSOF

  18. EOS Transition to NSOF • Level 1 product generation code has been ported to Linux at NSOF • Team is working on porting Level 2 product generation code to Linux but have encountered problems • Staffing Problem • The person originally doing the porting had to go out on short term disability • Staff has been spending time repairing hardware and searching for replacement for disable person. • Liang Chen was selected and is now filling-in • MOD07 Problem • Staff has encountered a coding problem that has not been easily solved. Solving this problem should solve other problems.

  19. EOS Transition to NSOF (Continued) • Currently making Level 2 products on SGI at NASA. • Investigation currently underway to determine if new line from NASA is needed. • Some think that the current line is sufficient • Some believe that a new line is needed • Some believe that we should wait for NASA to put a point of presence (POP) at NSOF • Currently sending Aqua Northern Hemisphere to AFWA via Gateway and subset to other Centers. • Need to investigate loading BBFTP on Gateway to receive files from Linux machines at NSOF.

  20. Gateway Replacement

  21. ESDA Gateway Replacement • COB has received two new P550 w/p6 processors • Systems are currently being validated and promoted to production to replace Satepsdist and Satepsdist backup • Expected to be completed by October 30, 2008. • Plan to use old P550 w/p5 processor to replace the current Gateway • Need to complete the following: • Setup • Configuration • Testing • Validation • Promotion to Production • Expected to be completed in November 2008

  22. Jason-2

  23. NEW PRODUCTS—OSTM/JASON-2 • OSTM/Jason-2 satellite launched June 2008. • Jason-2 Handover to NOAA from CNES scheduled for October 29. • Jason-2 Operational Late December and data released to public. • NOAA/NESDIS is producing Jason-2 data products in BUFR file format and distributing to NAVOCEANO.

  24. Satellite Navigation Services Jason-2 WEB SERVER NOAA SOCC Data Distribution Server Jason-2 FILE MANAGER NOAA Server CLASS, GTS, Users ESPC Data Processing Context ESPC (Environmental Satellite Processing Center) • Jason-2 WEBSERVER • Hosts NRTAVS QA system web pages & PDF reports • Hosts Log files & Operator Log monitoring tool • Jason-2 FILEMANAGER • Internal File transfers & Log management • Front end to TM-NRT processor • NRTAVS QA, BUFR, Metadata modules • NOAAServer • 4-Partner data exchange • CDAs telemetry • Auxiliary & Ancillary files • Satellite Navigation Services • Generates orbit info for SOCC • DDS (Data Distribution Server) • Distributes OGDRs to NRT Users • Passes ALL files for archiving to CLASS • Passes OGDR-BUFR file to NWS GTS gateway (future) Jason-2 TM-NRT new ESPC components • CLASS(Comprehensive Large Array-data Stewardship System) • Complete archive of files needed to generate Level-2 products • Distributes both NRT and Offline products to users • Jason-2TM-NRT (Telemetry Near Real Time Analyzer) • Produces NOAA OGDR & OGDR-SSHA • CNES provided software • Communicates only with File Manager
