  1. WELCOME TO STARY SĄCZ The first mention of Stary Sacz dates back to 1257. Stary Sacz lies in the region of Małopolska and in the County of Nowy Sącz. PHOTO by Paluch

  2. The confluence of two rivers Dunajec and Poprad extend to a recreational and fishing area with several ponds in an area 50 ha. There is a variety of  different species of fish such as carp, silver carp, pike, perch, grass carp and  trout. That is why this place tempts many lovers of angling. This is a great place to spend hot summer afternoons. The upper pond (over about 13 hectares) is used for recreational purposes. The bottom pond (over about 25 hectares) is used as a special fishery but also a valuable natural area due to the conservation of beavers. There are some plans to create a water park here and the estimated amount of money to carry out the project is around 3 million PLN. With this money we will receive playgrounds, a few recreational sites, beaches, bridges, water bikes and canoes. All this and much more is to be built thanks to the wonderful Mayor of Stary Sącz. 3. In Stary Sącz we have many sport facilities like sports pitches.ORLIK 2012  is a facility with a football pitch, a  basketball pitch and a volleyball pitch. The building of this sport pitch started in September 2009. The money for the pitch was collected from the parish, the European Union and from the region. We quickly got 333 000PLNand that made building our ORLIK possible. The football pitch is a part of a Polish program "MOJE BOISKO - ORLIK 2012" ('My Pitch- Eagle 2012). This program is about building pitches in the region and providing money for it. Our pitch is like others of this kind: a wonderful place for kids to have fun.Every kid can bring their ball and play there as long as they want. Two people Mr. Mamak and Mr. Jasiński  are the guardians of our Orlik. Theytake notes and you make arrangements when you want to spend time at the pitch. Orlik is next to a football pitch stadium MKS SokółStary Sącz.  It is a sport club playing football in Stary Sącz. They are good. Sometimes I watch their games and I like them. On Orlik there are sometimes sparrings  between a nearby team and a team from Stary Sącz. PHOTO by Stafiński

  4. The town's sports club has a tradition dating back to 1946. At the local stadium exciting matches of the Fifth Polish league are still held. Mountain lovers will find here beautiful mountain trails ranging from the easy paths to the challenging ones. One of the most famous mountain paths in this area is the Papal route  which the pope  John Paul II used to follow during his mountain treks with his friends in 1954.
