  1. Eye See you!

  2. You need your comp. bk. **Write down the term and the definition as you see it written here. DO NOT shorten up the definition. This will be checked for a grade. Thank you in advance for following directions 

  3. Retina • contains photosensitive elements (called rods and cones); acts as a screen where the image is INVERTED (upside down)

  4. Sclera • a tough white tissue around the outside of the eye-ball.This is the "white of the eye".

  5. Aqueous humor • jelly-like substance located in the front of the eye.

  6. Optic nerve • A bundle of one million fibers that transmit information from the rod and cone cells of the retina to the brain.

  7. Cornea • Refracts (or bends) the light; clear structure at the front of the eye.

  8. Pupil • Tiny opening in the middle of the eye that leads to the retina. It is “clear” but appears to be “black.”

  9. Lens • Made up of tissue layers and is used for focusing the image onto the retina.

  10. Vitreous Humor • Jelly like substance located in the mid-part of eye • Has protein to nourish the eye • Gives the eye its shape

  11. Choroid coat (“choroids”) • Located behind the retina • Absorbs unused radiation

  12. Iris • The color part of the eye that can contract or expand depending on how much light is entering the eye.

  13. Ciliary Muscles aka ciliary body • a ring-shaped muscle attached to the iris • It contracts and relaxes which changes the shape of the lens.

  14. Suspensory Ligaments • Connects the ciliary muscle to the lens
